Abstrakt: A structure of a linear-circuit d.c. electric-arc plasmatron with gas-vortex arc stabilization has been developed. Air or steam can be used as a plasma-forming gas. The operation of the plasmatron requires no any other protective gases. The plasmatron's power is controlled within the limits of 30–60 kW. To ensure stable operation of the plasmatron, a steam-generator structure has been developed that implements the idea of steam generation through the throttling of water superheated under high pressure. This structure makes it possible to quite accurately control the steam flow rate and temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
