Abstrakt: The article presents information on some aspects of receptor-mediated degradation of 125I-labelled insulin by rat hepatocytes. Chloroquine was used to help characterize degradation because it is known to inhibit intracellular processing of insulin Studies of receptor-mediated degradation of insulin have been performed in various cell types, including adipocytes, fibroblasts, lymphocytes and hepatocytes. Two different views are held currently concerning the mechanism of receptor-mediated insulin degradation in adipocytes.
