To intensify the heat and mass exchange processes in a liquid melt bath of the oxygen, 160-ton capacity, converter, we tested the pulsating action of the bottom inert gas blowing at the frequencies of 0; 0.5; 1.0; 1.5 Hz. The rational value of the pulsation frequency is 2.5 Hz: under that frequency impact, the residual vanadium in the metal melt decreases from 6.41 to 6.17%, with a reduction of the exhaust gas mass yield, the heat fraction of the exothermic reactions, and the thermal efficiency of the unit. The long-term tests of the rational pulsation mode (80 thousand melts) confirm the possibility of increasing the yield of the carbon semi-product by 2.932% with the vanadium losses decrease from 6.42 to 5.74%, that is, by 10.59 rel. %.
