Determining the dynamic properties of vehicles under different road conditions is an important step in many areas, one of which is the expert practice in the investigation of road accidents. However, in a number of cases, up-to-date information on these properties, obtained for specific real road conditions and vehicles, is lacking. In this work, the application of GPS-based specialized system for data registration and storage is justified through studying some dynamic properties of different vehicles. The application of the system is considered. Based on the system, a methodology for obtaining up-to-date data, that are adequate to the road conditions, is proposed. The experiments were conducted with cars, motorcycles, bicycles and scooters. Quantitative data on the accelerations and the decelerations of the studied objects were experimentally obtained. The results justify and prove the application of the used GPS system for determining the dynamic properties of vehicles with increasing the quality and reliability of the research, as well as the accuracy of the data obtained. The results from the study can be also useful in the expert investigations of road accidents and in the analysis of the possibilities for their prevention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
