Abstrakt: Issues associated with sulfur removal from ladle-furnace units are considered. The sulfur distribution coefficient depends on the slag sulfide capacity, sulfur activity coefficient, equilibrium constant, and the oxidizing potential of the medium. The CS sulfide capacity of slags appears to be one of the most important characteristics of the ladle slag refining capacity. In this regard, variations in CS were calculated depending on various slag chemical compositions. Based on the obtained dependences, optimal compositions of slags with an advanced sulfide capacity were established. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
