Abstrakt: Upper Eocene–Lower Oligocene sections in the Primorye region were analyzed to choose the most promising one to mark the Eocene–Oligocene boundary. We proposed that the boundary between the Khasan and Fatashinskaya formations in the Cenozoic Complex of the Khasan depression is its stratotype. Zircon radioisotope datings confirm the inferences on the age of the formations derived from paleobotanical data. The age of the lower strata of the Khasan Formation is estimated at 38 Ma in the stratotype (Posyet Peninsula) and 37 Ma in the hypostratotype (in the northern part of the depression). The age of the Fatashinskaya Formation base is constrained by the Kraskino flora with its complex of taxa in the narrow stratigraphic range. Analogs of this fossil flora are known to be found in the adjacent and distant areas. According to the radioisotope data, the age of the corresponding deposits correlates with the time interval of 31.4–33.6 Ma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
