Abstrakt: The article cites a study which analyzes treatment characteristics of psychiatric programs that correlate with patient community adjustment. In this article, all treatment characteristics that were found to correlate with patients' community adjustment are examined to corroborate the best subset findings and to determine whether there are other treatment characteristics related to patient community adjustment. The ward was the unit of analysis for this study. A ward was defined as a psychiatric treatment program administered by a single treatment team. The 79 wards in 18 Veterans Administration medical centers who participated in the study had to admit, treat, and discharge a wide variety of patients.
