Abstrakt: The article compares the MMPI and Mini-Mult with women who request abortion. Recent research suggests that the majority of women who receive abortions seldom manifest serious psychiatric sequalae. There are high-risk cases, however, and E.C. Senay has suggested that if these cases are not identified the stress of the abortion may precipitate an exacerbation of preexisting psychopathology. Because of the relatively small number of these cases, it would be advantageous if a screening instrument were available that did not require the amount of time or expense needed to administer full-length psychometric instruments such as the MMPI.
