Abstrakt: Africa is made up of an amazing but not simple commonality of indigenous communities. Its various indigenous cultural traits have evolved as a result of ad hoc development measures that have interfered with traditional ways of doing things. This study aims at assessing the dynamics of sociocultural determinants on indigenous traditions. Through an ethnographic research design from 2016 to 2018, survey questionnaires were conducted with four indigenous communities in sub-Saharan Africa, including the districts of Mbita and Mara in the Lake Victoria basin in East Africa and Akono and Ntem in the Congo basin forest in Central Africa. The regression model method unveiled that the sociocultural determinants correlated significantly with traditional practices and livelihood activities. In Mbita, land tenure systems, government regulations, and biodiversity patterns had significant influence on the indigenous traditions. In Mara, government regulations and monetization of the economy had significant influence. In Akono, there were land tenure system, government regulations, and biodiversity patterns. In Ntem, only government regulations had significant influence. The indigenous knowledge is selectively handed down to new habits that jeopardize its existence. The study recommends the integration of a femininity approach strengthened with the cultural dimensions of long-term orientation and masculinity. This transformational culture will contribute to an inclusive sustainable development and thus, the coexistence of indigenous knowledge with modern knowledge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
