We present here the results of studies of a photocatalytic method for hydrolysis of urea in model solutions of treated dialysate. This work used a photocatalytic flow cell with a working range of 340-390 nm. The experiments showed that use of photocatalytic titanium metal plates alloyed with impurity atoms TixCayOz, TixCeyOz, and TixZnyOz led to removal of urea from dialysate by 1.7, 1.9, and 2.3 mM in 5 h respectively. Photocatalytic titanium plates were found to hydrolyze easily decomposing compounds in model solution without significantly altering its ionic composition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
