Abstrakt: Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a devastating disease of cloven-hoofed animals that causes profound losses in affected countries and regions (James & Rushton, 2002). After decades of suffering recurrent FMD outbreaks, the Republic of Kazakhstan implemented a successful vaccination- and regionalization-based eradication program that resulted in the control of the disease, with no outbreaks being reported in the country since 2013. Upon suspicion of FMD, the chief state veterinary sanitary inspector of the Republic of Kazakhstan introduced temporary movement restrictions on FMD-susceptible live animals and products of animal origin.
