Abstrakt: Iraq and Syria have a water disaster because the Tigris and Euphrates rivers arrival an actual risky low water level. Turkey set some of development objectives to have river barriers in its Great Anatolian Project, which are the main sources of this disaster. The Turkey's plan is formed from 22 dams, (total water capacity is 120 BM3) and consists of a 19 hydro-electric electricity stations for electric generations, which had finished on 2010. The present research aimed to investigate the Tigris River water quality and to measure the WQI of the waterway. The study included water quality parameters, physical, inorganic, organic and microbiological parameters. The concluded that, most of the parameters were within the standards except COD, nitrate, DO, lead, Aldrin, methoxychlor, TPC, TC, FC, FS, Helminthes and parasite. The WQI of the selected area ranged between 91.4 to 92.8. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
