Abstrakt: The study area is located (Qaim and Akkas structures) in Anbar province, in the western part of Iraq, which the Qaim structure located in the northern part of Western Desert, and to south of the Euphrates River, a distance of 11 km southeast of the Qaim city adjacent to the Iraqi – Syria border. The Akkas structure also located to the south of the Euphrates River about 30 km south of the Qaim city. The objective of study is determine the structural picture for study area independed on wells drilled in Qaim and Akkas structures and compare with subsurface seismic picture of study area and surrounded area, as well as, determined the hydrocarbon potentials of the Paleozoic sequences, that it is promising and important in the Iraq's western region. In this study, the tops of formations were reviewed for the Qaim -1 well and Akkas Field. The thickness and structure maps were drawn and comparisons were made between the wells in terms of the tops of formations and the results of the reservoir tests. The study concluded that the area of Qaim and Akkas are monocline structures towards the east and northeast. The hydrocarbon traps are the result of the contouring on main faults, which are blocks faulting. These traps continue with the main faults extensions that consist of main structure, which have formed the structural closures. The current study has given a picture and a clear explanation of the failure of some wells and the success of the others, for the same structure, which gives an incentive for the future, that Iraq's western region is promising and encouraging prospects for hydrocarbon on based structures related for blocks faulting.
