The article presents the author's experience of writing a short prose piece in 2019 about a homeless Ukrainian American man Josef he met in the 1970s at the New York Catholic Worker. At that time, Dorothy Day was alive and was living at the New York Catholic Worker. The Russian invasion of Ukraine reminded the author of Josef, who personalizes the great suffering endured by the Ukrainian people in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. |
