In the present work, the assembly of the metal joints was carried out according to the properties shown by the fasteners: shape memory effect (type Y fasteners and self-locking head) and superelasticity (type T fastener). The metal joints were characterized mechanically through shear and pull-out tests. Our results demonstrate that obtaining smart fasteners with shape memory alloys is fully viable and represents a competitive alternative to conventional fasteners, especially for plate-fastening operations in difficult-to-access locations. In addition, the disassembly of the metal joint in a non-destructive way is allowed, thus, contributing to the development of active technologies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
