Their living room windowlooked out to the street, and Kevin--a 17-year-oldBlack boy--could see a marked police cruiser withtwo White officers who had been sitting there forhours. Black youth like Kevin experience trauma fromdirect acts of police aggression, witnessing orhearing about police aggression toward someonethey know, or repeated exposure to the detailsof police aggression--even against people theydon't know. Kevin was stillin handcuffs and yelling for the officer to "get off."Kevin is five feet four and 120 pounds. Theboys also expressed fear about being profiled bythe police, becoming the victim of police violence,and knowing other kids who might be targeted bythe police for what they wear and how they act.
