Abstrakt: The flameless combustion of nitrocellulose in ballasted mixtures consisting of hexamethylene diisocyanurate trimer as an organic binder and palladium (II) chloride or dichlorodiammine palladium was found to produce a highly porous polymeric matrix containing nanosized metal particles in the coarse (20–50 nm) and fine (<10 nm) fraction. It was shown that the coarser nanoparticles obtained from the mixtures containing palladium chloride have a rounded shape; in the presence of dichlorodiammine palladium, the particles are polyhedral. A partial insertion of hydrogen from the products of flameless nitrocellulose partial conversion into the crystal lattice of metal particles with the formation of palladium hydride (PdH0.706) was detected.
