In the first two chapters, Van Nimwegen explores the more thematic subjects like the organisation and logistics of the Dutch army and the nature of war during the late seventeenth century. However, Van Nimwegen, basing himself on archival and quantitative research, makes a strong claim that the Dutch army made a revival under the leadership of William III. Van Nimwegen is very detailed about the army reforms under the supervision of both Holland and Stadtholder William III, shortly after 1672. [Extracted from the article] |
