Utsushi and Utsuroi: Imprint and Transience.

Abstrakt: The article sheds light on the history of the modus vivendi of jikihitsu. It mentions about Ishikawa Ky ûyô , or the Paradox of Jikihitsu in "The History of Chinese Letter" as a dia- lectical struggle between stone and paper. It also mentions Morimura's so-called appropriation of Western art history shows the interplay between utsushimi an utsusemi, with all the ambiguity inherent in the imposition of Self on History through jikihitsu.
