Corrosion resistance of silicon carbide in molten salts based on FLiNaK eutectic mixture.

Abstrakt: The corrosion resistance of silicon carbide prepared by hot pressing (HP-SiC), sintering (S-SiC) and reaction sintering (RS-SiC) methods was investigated. Specimens were kept in contact with molten FLiNaK mixture containing UF4 for up to 800 hours at about 650 °C. The mechanism of corrosion processes and influence of fabrication method on the corrosion properties of the materials were determined and discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
