The article discusses the study that determines acaricide residues in honey samples, in Spain. This study is intended to evaluate the level of contamination, and to prevent toxicological risks that the treatment with the phytosanitary products might cause. The analysis of 221 honey samples corresponding to several years were performed, and it was discovered that 138 or 66 percent of all honey samples considered, do not present acaricide residues. It has been found that the daily average consumption of honey is rarely higher than 50 grams. Therefore, the concentration levels of acaricide residues detected in honey samples are low enough to cause toxicity in humans. |
