There is a long history and sequence of events leading to the energy transition (ET) from fossil fuels to renewable and clean energy currently underway. Emerging economies are central to global emissions reduction, since they typically have high shares of fossil fuel generation and because electricity demand is expected to significantly increase along with economic growth and greater electricity access.
