Nonstationary and periodic stationary modes are examined in operating power supplies (PSs). In the first case, the initial (or the Cauchy) problem is solved; in the second case it is the boundary problem to be solved in the classical formulation. The main elements are determined in power circuits resulting in complicated nonlinear systems of differential equations to describe PS. Models to simulate gates (diodes, thyristors, and transistors) are proposed for various approaches to develop systems of equations comprising the basis of state variables and a homogeneous basis of nodal potentials. The conditions for obtaining a system of nonlinear algebraic equations are specified in order to solve the boundary problem in order to provide for the stationary modes of operating PS followed by estimating PS stability. In the circuit, it is proposed to introduce unknown switching times of gates beside currents, voltages, and potentials into the system of equations. The structures of matrices are given to solve boundary problems using a simplified and proposed approach. The results of solving the initial and boundary problems are compared using an example of calculating a frequency doubling inverter and the counter-current diodes which proves the consistency of both approaches.
