In the present scenario, the sedimentation in a drainage system is usually cleaned either manually or with the help of a suction pump. This work proposes a system to automate the process of separating the sediments from the effluents. All the effluents with sediments will pass through the screening which is designed to filter the sediments and let the wastage fluids alone pass through it. The flow rate will be constantly monitored through the screening and the piston action will be initiated, which will push the sediments downstream into storage well when the predetermined level of sediments is reached in the manhole. To carry out the piston action, the inputs that will come from above will be blocked and the back flow from the main sewer pipeline using membranes or blocking pads. The storage well is placed at a location adjacent to the manhole, which will move the sediments downwards and will keep filling it. There will be a load cell placed in the bottom of storage well, and when this comes to a predetermined level, it alerts message to Municipal Corporation about the need to change the storage well using IOT. The Municipal Corporation will replace the storage well with a new one with the help of towing equipment. Thereby, eliminates the involvement of humans in the sedimentation process.
