Abstrakt: Thin films of copper zinc tin sulfide (CZTS) are synthesized by sol–gel and then coated on glasses substrate by spin coating. They are synthesized with different solvents: 2‐methoxyethylamine, ethanol (30%) + distilled water (70%), and ethanol. All the samples are annealed in air without any sulfurization at a temperature of 340 °C. The X‐Ray diffraction (XRD) patterns show the existence of the three main characteristic peaks of CZTS (112), (220), and (312) which exhibit the formation of kesterite structure of CZTS. The composition analysis indicates the formation of Cu‐poor and Zn‐rich samples. The transmittance and reflectance results are used to determine the bandgap which changes from 1.38 to 1.59 eV. A high absorption coefficient is observed (> 104 cm−1) in the visible region. The sample CZTS‐3 deposited with ethanol as solvent exhibits higher crystallinity and better optical performance among the others. The parameters obtained in this study are injected theoretically in a solar cell CZTS/Zn(S,O)/ZnO:i, using SCAPS1D simulation, which shows an efficiency of 10.55%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
