The article presents economic policy of the Sweden. The National Debt Office (NDO) of Sweden indicates that the central government borrowing requirement amounted to Skr50.8bn (US$7.5bn) in the year to November, with the total deficit in 2004 projected at Skr57bn. This is slightly lower than the shortfall of Skr64bn that the NDO was predicting earlier in the year, and the downward revision reflects the fact that spending by the armed forces and the National Social Insurance Board has been lower than anticipated. For 2005 a further modest improvement in the borrowing requirement to Skr46bn is forecast, with the fall in the deficit reflecting the fact that interest payments on central government debt are projected to decline by around Skr15bn compared with 2004. |
