Abstrakt: The deformation and failure characteristics of the floor after mining of the thin coal seam on the confined aquifers of the lower coal seam in Yanzhou Coalfield, Shandong Province, China, were studied. The floor failure depth was calculated by plastic theory and numerical simulation, and the risk of floor water inrush was studied by the modified water-inrush coefficient Ts′ and safety coefficient Ad. The results show that (1) the floor failure depth h1 under geological and mining conditions was determined. (2) The modified water-inrush coefficient Ts′ of the no. 14 limestone and Ordovician limestone aquifers in working face 6602 are both less than 0.1 MPa/m, there will be no water-inrush danger in the floor within the normal range of working face. (3) The safety coefficient Ad of the no. 14 limestone and Ordovician limestone aquifers in working face 6602 are both greater than 1; it is considered that there is no water-inrush danger in the floor within the working face. This observation is in good agreement with the results of the water-inrush coefficient method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
