Oral health impact the overall health of patients in hospital care because they patients are particularly vulnerable to oral infections and may present complications resulting from their medical condition.1,2 Studies have demonstrated an association between oral cavity infections and systemic diseases as well as the worsening of these comorbidities due to imbalanced oral conditions.1-5 The need for dental assessment in hospitals seems to present differences beyond the underlying disease and the treatment the patient is undergoing. These alterations are frequently observed in patients undergoing oncologic therapy such as radiotherapy (RT) and chemotherapy (CT), especially in the head and neck region.7 A majority of the patients in the present study ( I n i = 184) were receiving oncology treatment or post-treatment follow-up.
