Abstrakt: The electronic properties of the A-site-ordered perovskite iron oxide LuCu3Fe4O12 subjected to pressure in a diamond anvil cell were investigated by 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, electrical resistance, and X-ray diffraction measurements. The application of pressure induced the transition from the charge disproportionation (Fe3+ and Fe5+) state to the charge-uniform (Fe3.75+) state and from semiconductor to metal. Upon further pressurization, Fe3.75+ underwent a spin transition, which was accompanied by a significant reduction in unit-cell volume. Thus, under high pressure, the metallic charge-uniform low-spin state of LuCu3Fe4O12 is stable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
