Abstrakt: Small cell carcinoma originates from neuroendocrine cells and is an unusual tumor which rarely occurs in the prostate gland. In about half of the cases coexist with common prostate adenocarcinoma. This high proportion along with a number of common clinical features with common adenocarcinoma raised questions as to its origin. In this article we present the characteristics of this rare carcinoma and discuss the theories of its origin. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
