The texture of hcp polycrystals is modeled using appropriate analytical functions in order to refine the Morris normalization parameters and to analyze the accuracy of averaging the Kearns coefficients and Young's moduli as a function of the number of experimental reflections on inverse pole figures in relation to textured semifinished products made of titanium, zirconium, and magnesium alloys. The accuracies of determining the Kearns coefficients and Young's moduli using three techniques of averaging the characteristics of inverse pole figures are compared with allowance for the nonuniform distribution of reflections on the stereographic triangle according to Morris, the multiplicity factor, and the same weight contribution of each orientation. The accuracy of averaging the Kearns coefficients and Young's moduli is analyzed as a function of the number of experimental reflections on inverse pole figures. When Young's modulus is estimated for semifinished products with basal texture, an error of less than 1% is shown to be provided using the Morris averaging and the multiplicity factor; in the case of prismatic texture, an error of less than 0.3% is given by all three averaging versions. When the Kearns coefficients are estimated, satisfactory results can only be obtained using the Morris averaging, which provides an error of less than 1% for semifinished products with basal texture and less than 6% for those with prismatic texture.
