Block polyetheretherketones (PEEKs) were obtained via low-temperature polycondensation in organic solvent from oligoketones (OKs) of various compositions and structures combined with an equimolar amount of diphenylpropane. Phthalic-acid chlorides were used as an acid component. The synthesis method made it possible to obtain polyetheretherketones of the desired structure and molecular weight under room conditions for 1 h. The main performance properties of polyesters were studied. We showed that PEEKs have a high molecular weight and possess high thermal and mechanical properties combined with good solubility in organic solvents. The latter property makes it possible to process polyetheretherketones by pouring from solutions, which opens up broad possibilities to obtain various prepregs with low free volumes via impregnation of carbon and glass fibers from solution. A correlation between the degree of condensation of initial oligoketones and some performance properties of the polyesters was found. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
