Abstrakt: The method of pulsed magnetron sputtering was used to produce and study two types of glasses with two-layer coatings: I—on the basis of Ta/SiAlN, and II—on the basis of SiAlN/TaN. Both layers of Ta and SiAlN in coating I and the upper layer of TaN in coating II are formed in a nanostructured state; the lower layer of SiAlN in coating II is formed in amorphous state. Coating I has higher mechanical properties; therefore, it provides the glass with higher protection from shock impact of hyper-velocity iron particles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
