In situ TEM study of microstructure evolution in 3D-printed Ti-6Al-4V samples under uniaxial tension.

Abstrakt: Evolution of the microstructure and phase composition of Ti-6Al-4V samples obtained by electron-beam wire additive manufacturing was studied in situ under uniaxial tension at room temperature using transmission electron microscopy. It was shown that the non-equilibrium α″-Ti phase was formed in the β-Ti interlayers of the two-phase α + β alloy. Using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, it was found that the β → α″ phase transformations were governed by the vanadium content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
