Abstrakt: Spiral or corkscrew hairs surrounded by a whitish area with a violaceous halo and keratotic plugging of the hair follicle are a clue for the correct diagnosis. Skin biopsy from the left lower limb displayed acanthosis, with ortho/parakeratotic follicular keratin plugs. Dear Editor, Scurvy, often regarded as a disease of the past, results from prolonged vitamin C deficiency over a period of at least 1 to 3 months.1 In children, scurvy is much less common and may be caused by parental neglect related to suboptimal dietary intake.
