The article is an attempt to trace a history of translations from Old Russian literature into Italian, in a time span between the second half of the 18th and the 21st century. The research can be considered as the first step of a more general project and aims to set suitable criteria and methodologies for an overall history of translations from Slavic literatures into Italian, which should be investigated not only from the historiographical point of view, but also in the perspective of the influence exerted by the translated literature in the Italian literary and cultural context from the 18th to the 21st century. The work consists in the analysis and preliminary systematization of a very vast and still only partially verified repertoire of sources, which includes a series of journals, anthologies, articles and monographs containing a rich heritage of translations, not always well known even to specialists. To conclude the review of the translations studied so far, the author focuses on a particular case study: a brief and preliminary comparative analysis of the several (altogether ten) full versions into Italian of the Slovo o polku Igoreve.
