Abstrakt: Large portions of the Russian force structure not held within Russia's Arctic-facing commands, including the air force, have been practising regional missions since 2014 and, as air-mobile forces, could likely be rapidly deployed there. Russia's ground forces in the Arctic are under the 14 SP th sp Army Corps, itself subordinate to the Northern Fleet's Joint Strategic Command. The exercising of Arctic Brigade, naval infantry and air force units on both land and sea raises the possibility that these could be used for policing, such as maritime interdiction in peacetime that could take on a competitive hue.
