Abstrakt: The article at hand examines the overlooked dramaturgy of Stelios Seferiadis (1873-1951) and more specifically his bourgeois one-act play Mad From Love and his poetic drama The Sacrifice of Arta. Seferiadis, who was born in Smyrna, studied in Paris and moved later to Athens was a successful lawyer and Law University Professor and the father of Nobelist Giorgos Seferis. He showcased an interest for Modern Greek Drama from the first decade of the 20th century and also engaged in translation of Ancient Tragedy. The two plays under examination contribute to two genres of realistic and antirealistic aesthetics in Modern Greek Drama that developed from the end of the 19th century and blossomed in the first decades of the 20th century with pioneers playwrights such as Giannis Kampysis and Gregorios Xenopoulos who aspired to emulate European writers such as Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg. The article investigates aesthetic, ideological and thematic aspects from Mad from Love and The Sacrifice of Arta and employs primary sources in order to illuminate various related facets. As I argue, the dramaturgy of Seferiadis enrichens with a personal outlook the existing genres of Modern Greek Drama. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
