Abstrakt: Similarly, while losing a principal is not always problematic, research has demonstrated that low rates of principal retention can be harmful to student success, school climate, and teacher retention. The Market for Rural Principals A growing body of research has documented the importance of the principal for student success and positive school outcomes. Rural Recruitment and Retention Although researchers have examined principal markets broadly (see: [42]; [60]), recently the specific recruitment and retention needs of rural schools have come under the spotlight ([34]; [74]).
