Modeling the Dose Distribution in a Bone Implant during Sterilization with a Fast Electron Flow.

Abstrakt: The passage of fast electron beams with energies in the range from 0.5 to 3 MeV through a fragment of bone tissue during radiation sterilization has been modeled using the GEANT4 software package. Analysis of the data showed that the optimal particle energies are 1 MeV for a sample thickness of 4 mm, 1.5 MeV for a sample thickness of 6 mm, 2 MeV for a sample thickness of 8 mm, and 2.5 MeV for a sample thickness of 10 mm when the sample is irradiated bilaterally or rotated.
