Abstrakt:	The article informs that professional ethics in medicine has grown to encompass more than preprocedural informed consent or ensuring the integrity of data obtained through research. A debate on duty of doctors to put patients' needs first against the need to protect their own individual rights of liberty and autonomy is presented.
