Background Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the high infectivity of the virus has become a major cause of concern for health care professionals all over the world. Dental professionals are at greater risk of getting infected by patients and during certain dental procedures involving aerosol generation. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is recommended to protect from airborne infections. There is need to assess the knowledge and practices of dentists regarding PPE during COVID-19 outbreak. Hence this survey was initiated. Objective To assess the knowledge and awareness about PPE amongst dental practitioners. Materials and Methods The study was carried out in the form of a questionnaire, comprising of 20 close-ended questions, divided into two parts demographic information and knowledge and awareness level of dentists about PPE. It was distributed as google forms amongst dental surgeons in Maharashtra. Results The results showed that there is limited awareness and knowledge about different PPE and their indication in clinical practice amongst the dental practitioners.
