Abstrakt: Khapra beetle, Trogoderma granarium Everts (Coleoptera: Dermestidae) is one of the major insect pests of stored products in hot and dry regions of the world. Being a non-selective feeder, the larvae of this species feed on a wide range of hosts, particularly cereal grains and cause significant damage and health risk. It is commonly found in Asia and Africa, and is a regulated/quarantine pest for much of the rest of the world. Countries housing this species are facing trade restrictions on their products by non-khapra countries, causing them considerable economic losses. This species is more difficult to identify and control than other stored grain insect pests. In this context, this article has been written, which deals with the identification of this species, loss and economic impacts with some case studies, and management tactics, which would bestow handy/helpful information to farmers and bio-security experts for the control of this species in storage and quarantine.
