A Cross-Validation Strategy for the Identification of Electromechanical Oscillations in Real Ambient Data.

Abstrakt: This work presents a methodology for the identification of inter-area oscillations from real data acquired by Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs). The novelties of this methodology are the joint application of a parametric and a nonparametric method, and a cross-validation strategy proposed to both tune pre-settings and improve the reliability of final results. Tests with data acquired at low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) terminals of the Brazilian interconnected power system (BIPS) are presented to validate the methodology and to show the impact of the selection of input signals and parameters. Additionally, a study with one-month input data is presented, analyzing the behavior of the north-south oscillation mode of the BIPS with the proposed methodology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
