Abstrakt: A dearth of healthcare professionals well-trained in the early identification and intervention of children with developmental and behavioral health concerns prevents attainment ot optimal developmental andbehavioral outcomes among children in Mississippi. Comb inedwitha history of uncoordinated efforts among agencies, these issues have resulted in an environment characterized by redundancy, inefficiency, and competition for scarce resources. The authors describe components of the Child Health and Development Project (Mississippi Thrive!), a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-funded effort that aims to improve the states early childhood developmental health system through family and community outreach, enhancements to the state's workforce, and policy change.
