It is the aim of this article to explore modulations of affect in interfacial encounters. The term "the signaletic material" developed by Deleuze to underscore the audiovisual "utterable" as a surplus energy of film and electronic media is employed to encompass the direct modulations of bodily affect in interfaces. In applying the signaletic material to interfaces the article will refrain from foregrounding content understood as cause-effect relations or narrative production of meaning to focus instead on the malleable components of interfacial encounters; namely the vivifying intensifications of affect or depressed states of fatigue. The article contends that the signaletic material felt in bodies traversed by the modulations and pulsations of electronic signals, digital pixilation, color and light should be key to studies of interface affects.
