The present paper traces the semantic space of the conditional markers in Arabic since they are not tackled from a semantic and translational perspective .They usually constitute thorny areas for Arabic-to- English translators to face and overcome . The study basically aims at clarifying that these markers can alter the semantic content of the whole text radically from positive into negative, interrogative and the like, stating out how such markers can be recognized by translators, and an effective rendering could not be achieved unless the semantic space is investigated thoroughly . To achieve these aims, the study hypothesizes that there is a huge difference between these markers and their English counterparts . Furthermore, the functions of the conditional markers must not be restricted to conditionality . So, this paper tends to raise translators' awareness in the semantic space of each marker to render properly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
