Abstrakt: The article discusses Charles Henry Davis's formation as a Benedictine monk at Downside Abbey in England, his ordination to the priesthood, and his arrival in Sydney in 1848. He studied to be a Benedictine priest. He was appointed in 1847 as coadjutor to Archbishop John Bede Polding in Sydney and titular Bishop of the Diocese of Maitland.
