Books, especially those with religious themes, were for non-catholic communities in Bohemia and Moravia always very important. During the re-Catholization period, books helped to keep their specific faith and cultural traditions. The period after the Toleration Patent was issued was conducive to the production of manuscript prayer books, which were created by local elites based on the need for institutionalized non-Catholic communities, at the beginning in the euphoria of the ability to re-profess the faith of their ancestors, which became the core of community life.
