Objective. To analyze a set of EEG parameters and quantitative clinical assessments in patients with schizoaffective disorder to clarify the neurophysiological mechanisms of depressive-delusional states. Materials and methods. The study included 25 patients aged 22–40 years with depressive-delusional states. Patients' status was evaluated clinically before and at 4–6 weeks of treatment using the HDRS and PANSS scales. The EEG was recorded at each visit. Results. Significant correlations were found between spectral power in the initial baseline EEG in narrow frequency bands and quantitative assessments of patients' clinical status before and after treatment. Conclusions. The results clarify the cerebral mechanisms of depressive-delusional disorders and identify possible EEG predictors of therapeutic responses to treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
